GRAMMAR - SUBJECT AND OBJECT QUESTIONS

 I. THEORY

 

 SUBJECT QUESTION: A subject question asks about the subject of the sentence.

 WHO? -  We use this wh-particle if the subject is a person.

 WHAT? - We use this wh-particle if the subject is an action.

Wh-particle + verb?

The word order of the question and the answer are the same:

QUESTION

ANSWER

Who writes you e-mails?    

My sister writes me e-mails.   

What happened yesterday?

      An accident happened yesterday.


 OBJECT QUESTION: An object question asks about the object of the sentence.

Wh-particle + auxiliary verb + subject+ main verb?

QUESTION

ANSWER

Who does he kiss?

He kisses his mum.

What did she see yesterday?

She saw a film.
